How to Use Leverage to Grow Your Income

teamworkIncome is important; we all need it to live. But how we generate it will determine HOW we live, what our lifestyle will be like. Of course we can trade our time for dollars, but working on a linear basis means that to earn more, we have to work more. The challenge is that we all only operate with 24 hours in a day, and life can’t be only about work. So the best real option that allows you to increase your earning capacity while maintaining free time to live your life is LEVERAGE. This means you seek others to help you in doing the work that will throw off income to you.

For example, if you want to earn commissions from selling homes, you can become a Realtor and go sell as many as you can. Or you can become a real estate broker and hire dozens of Realtors to help you sell even more houses than you could on your own. You receive a portion of their commissions without you having been the one creating the sale. The more you hire, the bigger your leveraged income can grow.

This is the beauty of a network marketing business. Your goal is to sell a product. (By the way, if there is no product, there is no business therefore it isn’t legal. This is referred to as a pyramid scheme) Let’s say you can sell five of your product each month. It may take you a long time at that rate to build up a substantial customer base and income. But what if you learned the craft of recruiting others into your company, thus creating your own team of sales representatives?

If you recruit 10 sales reps, and they in turn wish to use leverage for themselves, and they each recruit 10, you now have 110 plus yourself. If everyone sells just five of your product next month, that’s 555 sales. And you earn a piece of each sale without even being present—can you see how this passive income can allow you to earn more while also creating free time to live life?

So how do you recruit others to join your team? Your first instinct might be to tell everyone you know how great your money-making opportunity is, but not everyone will be open to hearing about it. Instead, try “connecting” with them first.

To do this effectively, think about WHY you started a business for yourself. To eliminate debt? To have more time with your kids and stop missing the precious moments in life because you are too busy at work? To be able to give more to charities? To retire your parents? Your “WHY” compelled you to make the decision to start your own business; your prospects will have their own WHY for them choosing a business opportunity like you did.

Find the common ground of problems in your lives and RELATE with them, then share how you found the SOLUTION to your problem and that it just may be the solution to theirs as well. What I am saying is: talk WITH them, not AT them. Share how the business is taking you where you want your life to be, and that you sincerely feel it may do the same for them. Don’t just talk about money, but rather what the extra money will do for them. Even ask them if a business like this could double their income without doubling their hours, what would they change in their lives? Get them dreaming a bit. Now they are more receptive to hearing about your business opportunity. Just be real and truly care about helping others make their lives better. Then watch your team grow, as well as your income… and realize your WHY!
